Chris and Hannah go way back. They met in the fall of 2019 through Salt Co, their campus ministry, shared a class together and were even just one floor apart in Reinow hall their freshman year at Iowa.
After being friends for a year, Chris took notice that Hannah was always a good time. More than that, he realized he admired her faith in the Lord. He awkwardly asked her out in front of her apartment and smoothly asked for a ride to his car. After their first date, Chris asked Hannah if she would go on a second and she yes. Unfortunately, Hannah changed her mind and told Chris there would not be a second date.
In the summer of 2022, Chris texted Hannah because no one was able to hang out and he was bored, however the two kept texting and flirting for over a week. This unexpectedly turned into a will-they-won’t-they flirt fest that lasted the whole summer. Both were just too nervous to admit they actually had feelings for the other. Finally, after some dates they became official for a few months. Unfortunately, they were much too anxious for their own good and decided it wasn’t working. Hannah broke it off with Chris but don’t worry, it was mutual, as it always is.
Chris and Hannah managed to be cordial around each other and were able to be friends again. Soon after, they were both hired to work at Salt Co. at Veritas church and worked alongside each other for three years. As friends, again (and again) Chris thought about Hannah more and realized something. She was his friend. It was always easy spending time with her and she was always the funniest person in the room. Chris knew that whenever he made a joke (which was often) Hannah was the one he wanted to make laugh. After some different conversations with his friends, Chris was reminded that a great marriage is built on character. It’s one thing to be infatuated, but it means much more to be friends. Chris then asked out Hannah and she freaked out a little but she said yes. He didn’t know but she had been pining after him for some time and wanted him to ask her out.
The two started to figure things out and were a little obnoxious. They made an effort to see each other every single day for a few months. They’ve chilled out some but they still love to spend time together. A few months in, Chris realized he loved Hannah. Though he hadn’t told her yet, Hannah had been telling her friends that he did but just hadn’t said it yet, which is very bold of her, but she was right. After four months and some change of five years, Chris proposed and Hannah said yes. They’re getting married on July 31st this year and are very excited to be the funniest couple everyone knows.
